The sight of an infant monkey can be very appealing. They look sweet and helpless and in many ways seem like a human baby. Unfortunately these monkeys grow up and become difficult to handle. Normally adult monkeys make for difficult pets. Their intelligence is appealing and but it is this very attribute that makes them a very challenging pet.

Bringing a pet monkey into your life is a long term commitment. A monkey can live from 20-40 years, and will require a fulltime commitment all their life. A pet monkey must have your attention and when you get busy or circumstances change you cannot neglect him.

Monkeys can bond to you and may become frustrated and jealous if someone new enters you life, spouse or children. They also make it very difficult to take a vacation. I is also very difficult to find a new owner for a pet monkey and very hard on the monkey who has bonded to its original owner.
