Effective Pet Tracking

Many companies sell systems to track your dog and help you find him if lost. They are based on GPS technology which has been proven to be very effective. Just think of the navigation systems available for your car, boat etc.

These systems attach to a dog collar and are basically cell phones that have a GPS chip embedded. If your dog disappears, the collar can phone you with its coordinates.

These tracking units cost $600 or more, and normally require a monthly fee. GPS collars of this type are not suitable for cats. They are too heavy for a cat to carry around.

A new GPS tracking device for dogs and cats has recently come on the market and all the advanced news is that the device will be available in the next few months.

A tiny modem, which is part of the dog's collar, sends out a text message to your cell phone or PDA. Whenever the dog leaves the boundaries that you have set up the owner notified and the receiver gives directions, and even maps, with certain phones.
