Choosing a Name from a Pets Names List

pets names list

If you're stumped on what to name your pet, first consult a pets names list. You can get a few initial ideas from the list and then narrow it down from there.

Secondly, choose a name that's fairly simple. Animals will respond best to names that are one or two syllables long.

Next, make sure the name can't be confused with any of the words you'll use for commands like sit, stay, no, etc. For instance, naming a dog "Joe" may sound a little too much like "no" for the dog to tell the difference.

Finally, consider the breed, disposition, quirks, and appearance of your pet when naming it. The obvious examples are naming a dalmatian "spot" or a female Jack Russell Terrier "Jackie."
