Obamas Decide on Pets for Adoption

pets for adoption

In trying to decide on pets for adoption, the Obamas came across the Portuguese water dog and liked what they found.

In fact, Michelle Obama reported that the first family has officially settled on the breed for when they eventually adopt in the spring. The Obamas selected the Portuguese water dog for its hypo-allergenic coat, as one of the girls is allergic.

The first lady explained that the family felt the breed's medium size and temperament were an excellent match. She also stated that "the folks that we know who own them have raved about them. So that's where we're leaning."

The Obamas pet choice will probably come as good news to Senator Ted Kennedy, who owns 2 Portuguese water dogs. According to an article in People magazine, the first family plans to adopt the dog after spring break.
